Community Development
Doing What’s Needed
Through our Community Development, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at Detroit Indian Women's Association, and a source of much success for our Organization.
Sucheta Kriplani Shiksha Niketan(SKSN), a senior secondary, co-educational residential school established in 1991, located in Manaklao, on the outskirts of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.
We will be helping them by collecting funds for
Bed strapping:
Require 100 rolls of trapping @ Rs400 per roll per bed = Rs40,000
Mattresses: Require 251 @ Rs500 per mattress = Rs125,500
Quilts: Require 150 @ Rs700 per quilt = Rs105,000
Food thalis: Require 251 @ Rs260 per thali = Rs65,260
Tube lights, LED lights, electric switches: Allow for a total cost of approximately Rs50,000.

Support Services
Tackling the Issue
Our Youth Committee ages 12-21 will be Collaborating with DCAP to help the homeless in Detroit. We will be making hygiene kits to pass out along with organizing a drive to collect and pack supplies for donation.

Making a Difference
We see every challenge as an opportunity, and this initiative helps us ensure that our partners are better prepared to manage the unique situations they find themselves in. We are invested in an innovative approach that empowers our community and delivers the support they need, when they need it. DIWA will be supporting other organizations like Stride for Breast Cancer, Living and Enrichment Center for Autism, C.A.R.E.S of Farmington Hills, Living Center for Disability Adults and Any other organizations that align with out mission and goal.
Join or lead many of our committee projects, these are youth includes Youth ages 12-21 and Young Professionals 22-35.
